PORCELANOSA Grupo Projects: Live the high life in the Alta Lic tower in New York
This exclusive residential complex from Simon Baron Development and Quadrum Global is located at Long Island City, and its 467 apartments have been fitted with the Premium collections from PORCELANOSA Group.
In the multicultural district of Queens, one of the largest in New York , and the home of jazz during the 40s (this is where the trumpet player Louis Armstrong lived until his final days), this majestic skyscraper emerges with 467 apartments, the Alta Lic.
Measuring 150 metres tall and with three different types of apartments, this building with panoramic views is a joint project between the architecture studio Stephen B Jacobs Group PC, Simon Baron Development and Quadrum Global, who have opted for the Premium collections from PORCELANOSA Group for the ventilated façade and entrance.
In addition to its innovative structure featuring rectangular volumes and tiered levels, it boasts exclusive services, such as a gym, covered swimming pool, an events space, co-working spaces, BBQ and outdoor dining areas and garden and an outdoor cinema. The design revisits that postmodern trend, in which form follows function by integrating architecture into the urban life of the city.

The ventilated façade of the building covers an area of 13.000 metros cuadrados and is defined by a series of uneven rectangular planes that mix white and grey with the use of Extreme White by Porcelanosa (STON-KER™) and the ceramic wall tile Cubica. This technical solution shapes the overall design of the tower and improves the thermal insulation of each room, soundproofing the noise of the trains that pass outside.
The involvement of the Porcelanosa USA technical façade team was fundamental to shaping the project and to ensuring the Butech envelope was correctly fitted in compliance with the architectural criteria of the project.
